Are you looking to get outside, explore our region’s unique landscapes, and connect with your community? Do you want to help inspire the next generation of environmental stewards? Join us in Volunteering for Salmon Watch!
Salmon Watch field trips are engaging, hands-on outdoor learning experiences where middle and high school students explore salmon and their ecosystems. As a volunteer, you will help lead a small-group learning station, guide students in scientific observation, and share your passion for the natural world.
As a Volunteer Educator, you’ll:
-
- Guide youth in hands-on, outdoor education
- Support conservation of wild salmon and their habitats
- Meet new friends, professional networks, and strengthen our community
Trainings Dates:
- Saturday September 13th 10am – 3pm
- Saturday September 20th 10am – 3pm
- Wednesday September 24th 6pm – 7pm
No Prior Experience Needed!
Volunteers do not need any previous knowledge, just an interest and passion in educating, outdoor spaces, salmon, and/or any other related topic. Volunteers will receive all relevant training about salmon biology, macroinvertebrates, riparian habitats, water quality, and invasive species. Volunteers also gain skills in group management and safety, effective methods for hands-on teaching, strategies for working with kids, and more.
