November has definitely brought some rain, and it also brings us the final Salmon Watch field trips of the season.

This week the classes visited two sites – one along Humbug Creek behind the Camp 18 Logging Museum & Restaurant on Hwy. 26, and a return to a Bureau of Land Management campsite on the Nestucca River, serving our new McMinnville school.

At both sites the students saw many returning salmon!

Shane Fox brought 25 of his 6th graders out to the Nestucca, and said: “Salmon Watch is providing students the opportunity to do science and experience the ecosystem they live in. This program does a fantastic job discussing how the nonliving and living components of a riparian ecosystem are connected, and will directly connect to our ecology unit in the future.”
