Our August new Teacher and Volunteer Educator training session, held at the Wildwood Recreation Site on August 15th, was a fun day to be had by all!

With 27 trainees, trainers, and staff in attendance, there was plenty of learning and collaboration taking place throughout the day.

Highlights included finding a number of “healthy indicator” aquatic insects – along with a handful of crawdads, sending a bunch of adults off on a riparian zone scavenger hunt, and having front row seats to a wedding taking place on the shore near our training group (we were testing dissolved oxygen, pH and temperature as the happy couple set off downstream in an inflatable kayak).

If adults can have this much fun “playing” in the river, think of how much fun the students will have this fall!.

After the training, a number of attendees were able to enjoy a beautiful afternoon hiking along the Salmon River in the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness (one of the many benefits of participating in Salmon Watch!).

We have few spots remaining for our September Volunteer Educator training session! Please don’t delay in submitting your Volunteer Educator Application to register.
